Sakebukuro Kakishibu Tote Bag

This tote bag is made from vintage sakebukuro bags. These bags were used in the process of filtering sake . The bags were coated in kakishibu to act as a natural preservative and to strengthen the fabric. The bags were repeatedly used and repaired by hand. The aesthetic is commonly associated with traditional Japanese textiles .
